A provisional psychologist is a practitioner who is completing supervised practice and training requirements necessary to become eligible for general registration as a psychologist in Australia.
'Provisional' does not mean that psychological support is unavailable or that clients receive a lower standard of care. It means that the practitioner is completing an approved pathway toward general registration and is required to practise within the conditions of provisional registration and supervision requirements.
Provisional psychologists must maintain provisional registration while completing their approved pathway toward general registration.Supervision is provided by a qualified and board-approved supervisor within the requirements of provisional registration and supervised practice. This supervision supports safe, ethical and evidence-based practice, allowing the provisional psychologist to continue developing their professional skills and clinical experience. Supervision provides ongoing professional guidance, case discussion and oversight to support high-quality and ethical psychological care.Provisional psychologists at Sanctum Psychology Services provide access to high-quality and affordable treatment and assessment.Contact Us
